FR: Vote Now for Food Stamps to Be a National Coalition Priority

“Improve eligibility and benefits in the Food Stamp Program in its 2007 reauthorization” is one of the priorities that the Coalition on Human Needs (CHN) is considering for its top three issues in 2007. You can help make it one of CHN’s top priorities in 2007 by casting your votes now. The deadline for voting is Monday, November 20th.

Food Stamps Matter

As you know, the Food Stamp Program was last reauthorized in the 2002 Farm Bill and is due for action next year. While it is the backbone of the nutrition safety net, benefits at an average of only $1 per person per meal are not enough for attaining a minimally healthy diet. Moreover, the program serves only a portion of the vulnerable people who need it. With 35 million people in the US facing a constant struggle against hunger, strengthening the Food Stamp Program is FRAC’s top priority.

Help CHN Set Priorities

CHN wants to know what its allies think about the ten issues from which it will choose its top three. The votes it receive will help CHN decide how to focus its efforts in 2007.

You and your members and allies can cast your votes by Monday, November 20th. Please help spread the word—and don’t forget to vote!
