Senate Committees

Senate Agriculture Committee
The Senate Agriculture Committee holds jurisdiction over the Farm Bill and Child Nutrition Reauthorization. In addition, the Committee lends itself to trade, food safety, research, nutrition, commodity price and income supports, and conservation efforts.

Senate Budget Committee
The Senate Budget Committee holds responsibility over development of a budget for congressional action, which serves as the basis for spending, revenue, and debt-limit registration. Additionally, the Committee is responsible for holding hearings on the economy, budget reconciliation, and oversight in monitoring government agency performance.

Senate Appropriations Committee
The Senate Appropriations Committee holds jurisdiction over the annual appropriations process. Additionally, this committee provides oversight for 13 subcommittees, ranging from agriculture, to deficiencies, to pensions, and to post office, which better allows them to handle the various appropriation bills.

Senate Finance Committee
The Senate Finance Committee holds jurisdiction over tax policy (i.e., tax refundables — Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit). Additionally, the Committee is responsible for health programs under the Social Security Act (i.e. Medicaid, Medicare, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).

Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies
The subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies holds jurisdiction over the U.S. Department of Agriculture (excluding Forest Service) and the Food and Drug Administration-related subsidiaries of the Department of Health and Human Services.


House of Representatives Committees

House Agriculture Committee
In addition to holding House jurisdiction over the Farm Bill, the House Agriculture Committee lends itself to all agricultural matters — ranging from commodity exchanges to the dairy industry, to rural development and electrification, and to water conservation as related to USDA activities.

House Education & Labor Committee
The House Education & Labor Committee holds jurisdiction over the Child Nutrition Reauthorization. Additionally, the Committee is responsible for modern-day education and workforce-related challenges, and seeks to assist in supporting the existence of an education system that prepares children for the future, simultaneously fostering an economy that encompasses American enterprise and entrepreneurship.

House Budget Committee
The House Budget Committee presides over the annual budget process. In addition, the Budget Committee dispenses scorekeeping reports to House Members regarding budgetary effects of both pending and enacted legislation to ensure proposed legislation does not violate levels set forth by budget resolution.

House Appropriations Committee
The House Appropriations Committee holds jurisdiction over the annual appropriations process.

Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies
The Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Committee holds jurisdiction over agricultural, rural development, food/drug safety/regulatory matters, and other relevant entities.

House Committee on Ways & Means Committee
The House Committee on Ways & Means holds jurisdiction over revenue and related issues, including reciprocal trade agreements, the bonded debt of the U.S., and tariffs. Additionally, Ways & Means is responsible for revenue-related aspects of Medicare, social service programs, and the Social Security system.
